System Description

The system will be delivered in a RAL 7035 colored RITTAL cabinet, 2.000 mm in height (+100 mm plinth), 800 mm width and 800 mm in depth, actively vented, IP54 / NEMA12.

The cabinet must be installed in an air-conditioned room in a non-hazardous area, separated from sources of electromagnetic interference like coils, frequency converters or electric power transmission lines. The system is designed to feed intrinsically safe sensors located in Zone II2G ia IIC according ATEX / IECEx OR Class I Div II / Class I Zone 2 according to cCSAus. The cabinet itself has to be located in a safe area.

Depending on your philosophy you can feed the PROGNOST monitoring system with

  • 2x main feeders (redundant design) or
  • 1x main feeder

The PROGNOST System is prepared for both options.

General wiring
Different voltage sections (e.g. 100V-240V AC versus 24V DC) wired through separated wire ways. In case of crossings it is ensured wire insulation to be suitable for the maximum nominal voltage of the voltage level that is crossed.
Signal wiring (incl. intrinsically safe wiring)
Intrinsically safe signals are always separated from non-intrinsically safe signals by using different cable ducts / cable ways.

Depending on the option selected, different sensors packages come to play, detailed information about the sensors package can be found in each variant. All used sensors are certified for operation in hazardous area according to ATEX II2G IIC T4 and CSA CI1Doiv2.

The incoming sensor signals are to be connected to analog input system boards.
Up to 4 machines can be monitored with total capacity of up to 60 analog sensor signals (+ 4 trigger / impulse transmitter, signal type: NAMUR)

A separate system board for 8 digital input signals as well as 10 relay output signals (alarming) is included. The following alarm signals will be provided:

  • 1x UNSAFE (for the system)
  • 1x ALERT (per machine)
  • 1x SHUTDOWN (per machine)

Digital input signals can be used to reset an alarm or to influence monitoring thresholds.

PROGNOST allows a redundant communication to your DCS. As communication lines and protocols are available MODBUS RTU via RS485, MODBUS TCP/IP or OPC. Typical values sent to your DCS system are cabinet failure or an analog RMS value for each sensor and ALERT, SHUTDOWN, UNSAFE for each crosshead vibration and each eddy current sensor.

Engineering

The complete engineering documentation will be handed over together with the system, delivery on a documentation USB-stick additionally all technical documents are available for download.

Commissioning and Installation

It’s your choice to execute the commissioning with remote support from PROGNOST or to order the On-site commissioning service of PROGNOST Systems.

All tasks are executed by your own staff guided remotely by our experts. Checklists will be supplied by PROGNOST to ensure proper commissioning. A rental PROGNOST®-SenSim (sensor simulator) will be available on request to check your system during commissioning.

If you prefer full support, PROGNOST will execute the commissioning work at site and finish all work documented by a site acceptance test.

Options for machine condition monitoring

Option 1: MACHINE PROTECTION

For configuration purposes after the installation of the PROGNOST®-SILver data acquisition and machine protection unit, the configuration software PROGNOST®-Admin is included.

Permanently recorded monitoring data by a PROGNOST®-DataCenter unit provides the basis for an effective Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and further support services on demand. Data from the affected machine can be transferred to the PROGNOST Customer Support team. A written report including detailed conclusions serves as the basis for meaningful root cause analyses can be provided on demand.

The PROGNOST®-DataCenter can be used as Data Interface to a DCS/PLC system via Modbus connection (RS232, RS485/RS422). Received data from the DCS/PLC can be visualized as online signal or simple trend inside of the PROGNOST®-DataCenter visualization software.
