PROGNOST®‑Predictor Version 7 has added several important features, some that are visible and some not. Many of the base software components used by the software were upgraded to the latest versions. Although you won’t see this improvement, you can be assured that the product is being kept up to date with the latest Microsoft and other vendor technologies. This was done to make use of some new features and to maintain future support. If the components are too old they go out of support.

One of the background improvements is the storage of dynamic data to an HDF5 file system. This is a lite-weight, optimized storage technology. This enhancement provides faster data access and also allows the implementation a more robust data decimation and backup solution. The configuration is still stored in a SQL database, but the dynamic data is stored in the HDF5 file system. This technology will be enabled for selected customers in version 7 and will be a general release to all customers in version 8. For future systems, this storage system allows us to deliver the server using Windows 10 instead of the full server environment which simplifies the IT administration.

Harmonic Search

An important new feature is the Harmonic Search function. This tool will automatically scan the current spectrum and identifies any harmonic sets that are present.

It also has a full search mode. In this mode you can define a much larger search scope and the most recent spectrum for each spectrum will be analyzed for harmonic sets. This will support you to identify sensor locations that are particularly effective at monitoring a current fault or it will find harmonic sets of faults where the trend has not yet gone into alarm. This can help you add analyses that are sensitive to this fault.

It can also identify harmonic sets that don’t match any known source. Maybe this is due to a configuration error. Knowing this set exists allows you to investigate possible sources or add additional analyses to track the signature.

System Error Notification

Another very useful feature is the check of critical system operation at the time the client software is invoked.
If a problem is detected a dialog is shown indicating the problem. Up to 15 different error notifications detected problems such as backups that are not made, critical Windows services that are not running, or Processors that are offline. If nothing is wrong the dialog will not show up.
