PROGNOST Systems maintains market leadership with new services

COMPRESSORTechTwo recently interviewed Eike Drewes, managing director of Prognost Systems GmbH, to discuss the status of international monitoring, diagnostic and safety protection systems for reciprocating compressors.

Prognost Systems, based in Rheine, Germany, is one of the major players in this field. It operates worldwide from its Rheine headquarters; from its Houston, Texas, U.S.A., subsidiary headed by Skip Morrison; and through independent representatives around the globe.

Prognost Systems experienced a record year in 2011 in both retrofitting and new machine activities. In spite of uncertainties created by the present financial turmoil, it is expecting good results again in 2012.

"There is a huge backlog of unprotected reciprocating compressors in service in refinery processes that is going to need to be upgraded. This is particularly true in North America and Europe, where two-thirds of our business is in the retrofitting area," Drewes said.
