Monitoring of Compressor Wear Parts
Certain components of piston compressors are subject to high wear. A continuous monitoring system helps to avoid damages and organize maintenance activities prior to serious machinery failure. The PROGNOST®-NT Wear Monitoring module is the reliable tool to support your decisions.
Mechanical wear of machinery components is a gradual and continuous process. Monitoring of all relevant parameters over time reliably inform operators of the real component wear and remaining lifecycle period. The PROGNOST®-NT Wear Monitoring module provides permanent mechanical wear trend plots of critical components in reciprocating machinery based on rod position analyses ("rod drop"). The development from normal wear limits to those that threaten damage becomes easily recognizable. Violation advises the operator and therefore, wear-based damage becomes predictable and avoidable.
Wear development of piston rider rings displayed as trend view over a period of two months. After violation of the upper (red) warning threshold, the worn rider band was replaced; the following trend shows restored normal behavior of new rider rings.
Wear monitoring:
- Hard and liquid contaminants in the compression chamber
- Wear values for piston- and rider rings
- Temperature and leakage gas on pressure packings
The Wear Monitoring module runs continuously in the background of the Base System. A daily manual examination of the wear development of components is not required due to the individual warning thresholds for each monitored parameter.

Precise display of current rider ring wear with lower and upper thresholds defining the worn-out limits
Your advantages
- Continuous monitoring and display of wear developments
- The efficient planning of maintenance activities is supported and eased
- Warning thresholds with violation alarms
- Remote access and support
