Safety Analyses For Reciprocating Compressors

The PROGNOST®-NT module Safety-Analyses completes the SIL certified Safety-Protection of PROGNOST®-SILver at its best. You will get, among others, the possibility to visualize the collected sensor data of your machine. There you gain viewable information’s about the current operating condition of your Machine. So you upgrade the functional range of PROGNOST®-SILver by the well known Online- and Trend analyses and as well the functionality of "Ring buffers".

Visualized data

Segmented online signal: The online signal is divided into 36 segments, 10º crank angle each, with individual safety limits per segment out of PROGNOST®-SILver safety protection. In this case the safety limits of segments 12 and 30 are violated. Alerts will be send out and the visualization of online and trend view is made by PROGNOST®-NT Safety Analyses.

Visualization of Vibration analysis at its best: crosshead vibration online signal (top), segmented signal with warning thresholds out of PROGNOST®-SILver (mid) and as 3D trend over a period of 10 minutes (below).

Ring buffer

A Ring buffer works according to the principles of a flight recorder. They serve the additional visual analyses of online signals to detect the root cause of the damage.

The ring buffer is part of the PROGNOST®-NT module Safety Analyses. All online signals of the monitored machine are saved by the memory of the ring buffer. In order to guarantee the processing with these packages, the memory is configurable in its useable size and created according to the principle of a FiFo memory. That means that if the memory is written completely, the overwriting begins automatically at the beginning. Thereby the current data of the last 10 Minutes is permanently available and if a ring buffer release takes effect the current ring buffer will be saved persistent. This contains also a time period of ten minutes apart from the respective time, in order to be able to reconstruct the reason of the alarm release and the direct consequences of the failure. After the end of the permanent saved ring buffer is reached a new ring buffer will be generated for a permanent writing of monitoring data.

In Addition to the ring buffer, data will also be recorded for the visualization of trends. For this are two different types available, the Shortterm trend and the Longterm trend. This trend data can be shown as a line graph or a 3d plot inside of the trend views.
